Recently, China Unicom introduced the "Unicom Satellite" service on its official app. This service provides emergency communication capabilities in areas where ground network coverage is unstable or unavailable.
Currently, China Unicom is inviting users in Tianjin, Shanxi, Anhui, Hubei, Guangdong, and Hainan to test the Unicom Satellite service, which is available through a 10 RMB/month package.
The 10 RMB monthly plan includes 2 minutes of domestic voice service for both incoming and outgoing calls. This service is only available within mainland China and is not supported in Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan, nor is it available for international use.
China Unicom has noted that the product is still in the testing phase and will be adjusted based on user feedback and market conditions. To use this service, users need a terminal that supports the Unicom Satellite feature. Additionally, users must activate international roaming and 5G SA services.
