The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website released the economic performance of the telecommunications industry for the first 10 months of 2024 yesterday. During this period, total telecommunications revenue amounted to 1.4535 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.6% year-on-year. Calculated at constant prices from the previous year, the total volume of telecommunications services grew by 10.4% year-on-year.
In the realm of 5G, the user base continues to expand. By the end of October, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications companies and China Broadcasting Network reached 1.789 billion, a net increase of 45.15 million compared to the end of the previous year. Among them, 5G mobile phone users reached 995 million, a net increase of 173 million from the end of the previous year, accounting for 55.6% of mobile phone users, and the proportion increased by 9 percentage points compared to the end of the previous year.
5G network construction is steadily advancing. By the end of October, the total number of 5G base stations reached 4.141 million, a net increase of 764,000 from the end of the previous year, accounting for 32.8% of all mobile base stations, with the proportion increasing by 3.7 percentage points compared to the end of the previous year.
