China Unicom announced to lease 3.5GHz 5G base stations for its large-scale 5G network and demonstration projects. Candidate providers are Huawei Technologies, ZTE Corporation, Ericsson China, Nokia Corporation (Beijing) and Datang Mobile.
Wang Xiaochu, chairman of China Unicom, stated on October 17 that the company planned to build 50,000 5G base stations, over 28,000 of which have been built. Most of the built stations have been put into commission.
