The international industrial cooperation platform of Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) officially released the 5G Global Terminal Initiative, jointly promoting the maturity of 5G multi-mode and multi-frequency terminals with the global industry, laying the foundation for 5G global roaming and scale development.
Currently, 5G technology is at the stage of achieving global scale commercial use, and it is quite critical to promote the accelerated maturity of 5G multi-mode and multi-band terminals, which contributes to the achievement of global roaming and economies of scale.
According to the content of the initiative, GTI will promote 5G GSM terminals to support multi-mode and multi-frequency, including the frequency band of 700MHz, 2.3GHz, 2.6GHz, 3.5GHz, and 4.9GHz, NSA/SA dual-mode, and 5G messages, so as to achieve 5G terminal scale development and global roaming. According to the schedule, the prototype of 5G GSM terminals was planned to be released in June 2020 and commercial terminals of 5G GSM by the end of 2020. By 2021, the scale development realization of 5G GSM terminals has been set as the objective.
