Wang Zhiqin, head of the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion team, said that after completing the equipment test, they will focus on promoting the terminal chip to support NSA and SA. There are four 5G chip manufacturers involved in the promotion team’s test, including Huawei, Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Unisoc, as well as six system vendors, including Huawei, ZTE, CICT, Ericsson, Nokia-Shanghai Bell, and Samsung. Two networking architectures, NSA and SA, and two main frequency bands, 3.5G and 2.6G, are tested.
Among the four terminal chips involved in this test currently, HiSilicon’s Blong5000 completed SA and NSA tests. Qualcomm X50 completed the NSA test. MTK completed the indoor tests of NSA and SA and the outdoor performance test is also in progress. Unisoc is conducting the NSA test and will start the SA test later.
